Kathryn was one of the artists
chosen by The Day Studio in San Francisco to participate in the restoration
of a 19th century theatre in Enid, Oklahoma. In the summer of 2002, she
and twenty artists from the United States were flown to Oklahoma to transform
the abandoned theatre into a beautiful masterpiece.
Jo Anne Day, of the Day Studio, designed and directed the project while
the artists carried out her vision. This two-week project involved gilding
the crown and stage moldings, glazing the walls, and painting the theatre
murals. The artists worked in teams for the most part; however, each artist
was assigned a specific project. Kathryn, was assigned the angels on the
stage mural. After two weeks the theatre was completely transformed and
was well received by the community and the press.
This experience was more than a two-week project, as the artists formed
a network of support. Though they live in different areas of the country,
they remain in touch to assist each other on projects. |
